Established in 1946, Cast Iron Welding has a wealth of experience in the gas weld repair of cast iron.
The process of welding cast iron was originally researched by two brothers, Harold G Palmer and Tom Palmer back in 1946. Together they developed the welding process and the special fluxes required to weld cast iron materials which are still used to this very day.
We are Cast Iron Welding Engineers who serve markets worldwide and our Gas Fusion Welding Process is now known throughout the world in the Marine, Power Generation, Industry, Heritage, Steam Locomotive and Vintage Car markets.
We work alongside classification societies and metallurgists to keep up to date with new developments in the material manufacturing of so many different grades of Spheroidal Graphite and Flake Cast Iron being used today to maintain our high level of quality and service.
Typical problems dealt with are mechanical damage, fractures, erosion and cracks. Components are dismantled, cleaned, crack tested and hydraulically tested to 10 bar. Critical dimensions are recorded and a detailed inspection report together with a fixed price quotation is submitted to the customer for approval.
Cast Iron Welding Services work predominantly in the marine engine industry, our casting repair skills are in high demand for repair and for an increasing amount of heritage castings in the form of architectural, steam and vintage vehicle components.
